Friday Randoms

1- We went to a little concert a couple of weeks ago.
I was a little antsy to spend a evening away from home, and there was this FREE concert, nearby, and kid friendly!  So we decided to go. It was Mindy Gledhill & Meghan Smith, and they were amazing.

We ran into some old friends, and were lucky enough to share a space with them, because the concert was PACKED.  Our friend Leslie even stole Holland away and held her while she slept through the WHOLE concert.    Which gave Nolan and I some opportunities to boogie...  Does he not look like he is having a fabulous time?

2-  We did our traditional Father's Day photo for Ben (see here and here) about 3 minutes before he walked in the door the day before.  Not being home very often when he's not, I didn't get a chance before then, and it shows...  but his kids still love him, even if their photo is a little lame.  (also, it appears that I didn't post last year's photo, and that's OK, because it was a little scary in its own right)

3- Our friends Melinda & Skylar have been together FOREVER, it seems.  We first met them during our first year of Sweeney Todd, almost 10 years ago!   Well, they are finally tying the knot, and our friend Marcie threw a big fat shindig for them at her house last Saturday to celebrate.  It was gorgeous.  They were gorgeous, and Melinda started having second thoughts about never having kids when she met Holland.
Congrats, you guys!

4- And lastly, for now, Tamera asked me to bring the quilt my mom made Holland to her house the other morning.  I didn't know quite what she had in mind at the time...  but look what she did!

I have to admit to thinking my kids are pretty darn cute...

Holland in Pictures

By this stage in his life, Nolan had thousands of pictures taken of him.

I wish I was exaggerating.

Holland has not been documented as completely.  We just don't spend as much time laying around staring at her as we did Nolan.  How can we?

But I have been trying to catch up a little...  get out the big camera and document her in more than just iphone photos.  She's become a smiley little thing...  but when a camera is on her, she's more impressed with the big black thing (thus the ooh face) than she is interested in grinning.  But we'll get it.

Here are a few of my favorites from the last 2 weeks (her auntie Marcie gave her the adorable outfit):

This one shows off her long and skinny self pretty brilliantly.  She's in the 80th percentile for height right now, but only the 25th for weight (at only 10 lbs).  Melissa & I decided that means she'll be built like a super model...

And one of Nolan with his buddy Juan...  and a ridiculous sunburn...  which was gone the next day, but looked extra special that night and will likely result in a whole new crop of freckles:

Holland's Blessing

Holland's blessing weekend was a whirlwind of family and fun that left me catching up for a good long time.  But to say that it was marvelous is an understatement.
It was a perfect day, and Ben gave Holland a beautiful blessing.

Melissa took these two photos of us just before the meeting started:

We were surrounded by SO many friends and family...
and were seriously remiss in getting good photos the day of the blessing.

At the very end of the party we managed a few, though, with our camera:

Grandma & Grandpa Webster with the sweet girl.

 Grandma & Grandpa and parents
(forgive the yucko ponytail hair.  By then we were a couple of hours into the party and any attempts to keep my hair down had disappeared)

Simplicity is the name of the game at our house, when it comes to Holland's clothes.  I learned my lesson with Nolan that comfort is paramount at this age.

And the following week, some cousin time:

Nolan and Tanner.  Nolan pretty much worships Tanner, and was thrilled beyond words that they got to have a sleepover and Tanner got to hang out all day AND all night.  Made Nolan's year.

And the 4 kids (mine & my brother Nathan's)
Madison, Nolan, Tanner & Holland

And another day...  Logan (2) gets to hold the baby...
which he mostly loved...  and she tried to tolerate.
