Nolan the Chef

One of Nolan's favorite things has always been watching us cook. . . and helping us cook. It got to the point where he would throw huge fits if we didn't let him help stir the things that were cooking on the stove. . . and he's a heavy kid to hold up. . .

So Ben devised a plan. He gave him our small sauce pan, a spatula, and an ice cube, and let him "cook". I can't tell you how many hours of fun Nolan has gotten out of this game. And for him to focus on ANYTHING for more than 5 minutes of time is a miracle. . . so we're loving it. He's even gotten to the point where he "seasons" his meals.

You have to see for yourself. Sorry it's so long, but it's worth it. . .

LOVE that he needed the tongs to be "usable", so he flipped them around to keep his grip better! LOVE the well-honed "seasoning shake" he has going on there....

And on a side note, LOVE the "banjo". You know I play banjo, right?

Fun stuff, Mel!

Genuis! Am completely stealing this idea.

And he is quite the shaker. Buy that boy a spice rack!

I LOVED that! What a precious little boy. I fear Isabel is going to end up like her mother - afraid to go in the kitchen for fear of spontaneously combusting.

Okay, how cute is that? I love how he keeps going over to push the barn. It's like background music on a cooking show.

Oh my, what a genius! Turning the seasoning over and shaking it, then putting the lid back on, brilliant! I also am amazed at his creative use of the tongs. And who doesn't like a little music while they cook? That is a wonderful idea to give him his own pot to stir! Stealing that. If I ever cook again.

Carter and Aubrey insisted we watch this three times and still wanted to watch it again. I had to draw the line.

Nolan is such a smarty pants!!! Love the uh-oh, love Ben's commentary in the background, and I love how good he is at cooking already! GO NOLAN!

That pretty much made my day. It almost makes me a little less scared of when Vanny starts walking.

You have a little angel on your hands!

Who says you need a play cooking set. . . they'd rather use big people stuff anyway!! It will only work until he is old enough to start getting water from the faucet, though!!
