Sleeping. . .

Nolan has never been a good sleeper (have I said that before here?)

When people asked me "is he sleeping through the night?", I would usually answer with a grunt and a "not even close". He is a lot of great and amazing things, but a good sleeper has never been one of those.

His pediatrician, at his last appointment, told me that as soon as we were ready, we should let him cry. . . "he doesn't need to eat during the night. He weighs plenty. . . he can easily go without eating over night". She also suggested not waiting much past 8 months. . .

I couldn't make it that long. He was starting to regress. . . waking up 3 or 4 times a night instead of 1 or 2, and I was just exhausted! I haven't had a full night's sleep in a year! So we decided that this past weekend was the time. Friday night, when he woke up at 11 for no real reason, we let him cry. It took 45 minutes. . . we wimped out and went in to check on him, put a hand on him, and replaced his binkie twice in that time, but then he cried himself back to sleep and didn't wake up again until 5. And it's only gotten better since then. I still don't feel remotely caught up, or awake, but it's progress. There's a light at the end of the tunnel. I slept for almost 8 hours straight last night!

Hooray!

I'm glad to here it went well! We started this last night and after crying a lot, she slept all night, no night feeding! The tears running down her cheek kill me, though! :( Hope it keeps going well for you!
